A Ray of Hope

Lying on the bed,

Dreaming he was,

Of sunny days spent in the stadium,

Of hitting, kicking, rolling the ball,

Of basking in the glory of a victory,

Of celebrating, it with a tub of ice-cream.

Lying on the bed,

Experiencing he was,

An excruciating pain,

Shivering, numb with the pain,

Down he was, with a bout of flu,

The sounds of the stadium a distant memory.

Lying on the bed,

Glancing he was,

At the get well soon cards,

At the flowers beautifying his room,

A hint of sunshine creped in,

Bringing in with it a ray of hope!
