Multiple faces

Multiple faces,

To a single person, it traces,

Depending on the person,

Depending on the reason,

Depending on the situation,

Depending on the person’s position,

For a long time it may stay hibernated,

Or impromptu it may be liberated,

Sometimes, all it needs is a provocation,

Or sometimes, it could be a lifelong suppression,

Multiple faces,

In numerous places,

We have all graced,

Without much haste,

Irrespective of the emotion we face,

That which is appropriate we brace,

Upto a point,

Where these numerous faces and real- self join,

No longer can we distinguish,

The reality blurs and gradually extinguish,

Only that which remains is failure to recognise self,

Convincing oneself,

I am, what I show,

In false pride we ultimately glow.

Multiple faces,

Which we never thought existed, springs in surprising occasions and places,

Unaware of its little traces,

We carry it along for a lifetime, in many cases,

A part of us it becomes, in due course,

For good or bad, a compelling force,

However hard we deny,

A part of us would forever know the face that doesn’t belong, how much ever to ourselves we lie.

  1. A part of us would forever know the face that doesn’t belong, how much ever to ourselves we lie… Profound insight! IMO, the whole of us knows and it gnaws at the insides life long. Nobody has the guts to admit.
