She was trying to reach him since the last half an hour, the phone kept ringing at the other end, but none to pick it up.

A distorted range of memories flashed before her eyes, the first ice-cream they shared, the gifts they exchanged, the differences they overcame, the similarities they celebrated. Oh! why do I have to think about all these things now, he’s definitely going to be fine, we have a long way to go. Fine, he was, when after a seemingly long wait, she was glad to hear his voice, voice that sounded like celebration to her ears.

Now that she knew he was safe, she wondered,How did people manage in an age when there wasn’t any technology? Patience and hope, were the only tools with which they thrived.

  1. Your Six reminds me of those days without “technology” when, as you say, patience and hope were often what we relied on if we couldn’t get in touch with someone by phone. A phone, in the house, either affixed to a wall or sitting on a table! What a contrast to current culture where instant access to others is the norm and yet….the same fear can arise if there is no response to our call or text.
Thought provoking Six. Thanks for linking up 🙂
