Malabar Giant Squirrel

P.C :- Sabharish ; Malabar Giant Squirrel

Descent from hills,

Revealed all its glory,

Carpets of greenery, that composedly grow,

Pleasant interjections of whispers of wind,

Resplendent sunny colours of foliage,

Undisturbed by mellow chirping of birds,

Enjoying his afternoon siesta,

A Malabar Giant Squirrel,

Decked in colours of orangish- gold,

Like that of the afternoon Sun,

They, whose fancy he caught,

Human sounds,

Woke him up from slumber,

When lured with biscuits for his friendship,

Alienated junk food offered,

Preferring to munch on his favoured fruit,

Backstory :- We happened to catch sight of this Malabar Giant Squirrel while descending the hills. When a couple of kids lured him with biscuits, he blankly refused , preferring to munch on his favourite fruit from the tree.

  1. Thanks for sharing the “squirrel moment”. There’s something about nature that soothes the soul. We would all do well to take a few moments to contemplate the glimpses of nature in our own world … even if only a single dandelion in a pristine lawn!
