Friendly neighbours

Assumed as rumours,

Spreading ceaselessly across the Milky Way,

Confirmed as truth later,

By messengers in our Solar System,

That, Earth was reeling under pressure,

From a deadly virus,

Scaring her inhabitants ruthlessly.

Friendly neighbours couldn’t wait any longer,

Choosing a date for a virtual meet up,

Mercury came in first,

Offering to join forces with Sun,

Enlighten every nook and corner about hazards of enemy,

And benefits of health,

Next came in Venus,

Offering to shower love and compassion,

In these times of pain and peril,

Mars choosing to,

Offer solidarity and support,

In these times of adversity,

While big brother Jupiter,

Choosing to shield us,

Through his sheer power,

Saturn, the ringed beauty,

Choosing to supervise,

Ensuring a smooth flow,

Different portfolios assuming,

Common goal perceiving.

Moon, the mediator,

With her crescent smile,

Happy the way things worked out,

Brimming with optimism,

As each one left,

Hurrying to fulfil their roles,

A promising tomorrow,

Conscious neighbours as them,

Rendering earthlings in a good space.

165 words.

A work of fiction based on real events.

Behind the scenes:-Some days ago, five planets, namely, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, happened to appear in the night sky/ pre-dawn hours along with crescent moon. I didn’t get to witness their appearance , but drew inspiration for this piece. You may read about it here.

The flowers of the fiction plant rooted in my brain, the voice of the inexpressible feelings hidden in my heart and the eruption of the theories burning in my mind– I made a ball out of the three, threw it high into the sky and it landed right at my blog.
