Structure of poem:- I’ve taken inspiration from the picture 1 ( Painting book with colours) , for line 1 and subsequently it alternates. So every odd numbered line will relate with picture 1. Similarly from line 2, inspiration is taken from picture 2 ( Man walking on sand) and subsequently it alternates. So every even numbered line will relate with picture 2. The lines have been numbered for easy reference.
On a pearly white canvas begins, (1)
Steadily sands of time trickles, (2)
Myriad of hues battle, (3)
Time’s abstract, as envisioned,(4)
Sea of colours overflow as emotions reign, (5)
Time’s limited, as perceived, (6)
Cauldron of shades combine haphazard as desperation sinks, (7)
Each trickle seems insignificant, (8)
Each stroke renders significance, (9)
Eons pass waiting for right moment, (10)
Abstract art, it may appear to you, (11)
Elusively time trickles through cusp of hand, (12)
Picture perfect portrait , appears to me, (13)
Each step fostered growth (14).
Thoughts behind the poem :- Time as a concept is conceived by us, and while all of us are gifted with a blank canvas it is totally upto us to paint a picture before time runs out. Complete/ incomplete is totally in our hands, we are the creators/ destroyers of our stroke of colour.
Acknowledgements :- Thank you Sadje for running the What do you see challenge. The challenge is to use the above photo ( Painting book with colours) as an inspiration for your piece. For rules please refer here. As I hadn’t participated in previous week’s challenge, I’ve made a collage of two pictures ( previous week’s pic & current week’s pic) for my poem. Thank you all for stopping by and reading.
