Surroundings unfold

P.C :- Sue Vincent

Sheltered among green,
Stream gushing abundantly,
Cuckoo calls morning ,
A walk inhaling nature,
quick banter, on the way home.

Day coming to close,
Mooing cows bringing Earth’s scent ,
Back from grazing green,
Permeating backdoors to,
Interiors of place- home.

Waters from spring clean,
Spraying paddy fields lush green,
Waking to first rays,
Energy at its zenith,
Till dusk the till worked its way.

Motor trudges down,
motor marks covering green ,
Cuckoo’s call muffled,
Calls of mooing cows unheard,
vehicle’s cacophony.

Dim yellowish brown,
Covering misty morning ,
see through pleasant green ,
Scented mountain flowers hides ,
in layers of dull foliage .

Motor trudges down,
Without stopping for greeting,
reaching in jiffy,
Without pausing to admire ,
nature, energy zapped.

Poetry form :- Series of six tankas ( Tanka syllable count :- 5/7/5/7/7)

Thoughts :- The first three stanzas depict how life was in the surroundings of our ancestral home during the time when my grandma was a kid, and the last three stanzas depict how it is now.

Acknowledgements :- Thank you Colleen. M. Chesebro for running Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge. The challenge is to write syllable poetry using the synonyms of past and present. The flowers of the fiction plant rooted in my brain, the voice of the inexpressible feelings hidden in my heart and the eruption of the theories burning in my mind– I made a ball out of the three, threw it high into the sky and it landed right at my blog.
