Stranger in an un-strange world

Looking out of the window,

Breeze seeps through those bricks cradling man,

A tiny creek’s sufficient for its presence to be felt,

Looking at the mirror,

A reflection stares plainly back,

Strangely it doesn’t know any laughter or tears,

A stranger in an un-strange world,

Couldn’t sharing sorrows be easier than flaunting happiness?

It doesn’t know any laughter or tears,

Breeze seeps through those bricks cradling man,

A tiny creek’s sufficient for its presence to be felt,

Yet,

A stranger in an un-strange world,

Looking at the mirror plainly.

89 words.

Inspiration for the piece :- (Ernest Hemingway)

The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.
–A Farewell to Arms (1929)

  1. Kitty, The repetition works so well and you describe a satisfying place to be, strong enough to rest between extremes. A wonderful interpretation and inspiration on Papa Hemingway’s quote ❀

  2. I love this sensation of the breeze blowing through the bricks cradling man ❀ I felt it throughout the poem, as if I were outdoors in the sun. Lovely poem, Kitty πŸ™‚
