The clouds hadn’t just yet slept,

Oh! how they kissed the tips of mountains,

Hiding His Majesty from view,

They seemed to be in eternal hurry,

Carrying rain bearing elixirs across lands,

I, a mere traveller,

Trying to keep pace,

Rest awhile, they said,

And I scorned, I wanted to be part of their parade,

Elixirs across lands,

They poured and poured without stopping to take a breath,

And I just admired them, kissing the tips of mountains as they flew past,

Everything was faintly visible, such was this heavy downpour,

Across lands, carrying elixir,

I tried to keep pace with them and they scoffed,

They left me behind,

Behind, a memory of a road trip, I took many moons ago,

When the clouds hadn’t just yet slept,

They were on a mission of a heavy downpour,

Carrying rain bearing elixirs across lands.

  1. I love this poetic memory of a road trip where you got left behind, but left also with memories of sleepless rain clouds spreading elixirs across the land. You admired them at the time. I admire your writing of it now. I feel a specialness in this memory too (and I wasn’t even there).
