Blunder

A newly married couple,

captivated by each other as the shining stars above-

full of dreams of our life ahead,

one evening we went out to dine.

Soup, starters, breads, curry, dessert, I rattled away-

when the waiter came,

unmindful of the fact it was just the two of us to be fed and not an army.

The husband looked bemused, but didn’t want to shake me off my eating spirits,

Poor eaters we,

looked at each other startled, when the dishes arrived,

Dining out turned takeaway lest punish our brimming stomach,

After that it’s never me who places the order when we go out to dine.
