The lake

The lake taken in 2020, P.C :- mine

The lake, in front of my house, flows-

in summer, from the warmth of noon’s sun she glows,

Egrets fly in to catch a fish or two-

while cattle graze nearby without a care who’s who?

The lake, in front of my house, flow-

in spring, wild lilies reflects the season’s glow

you can hear cuckoos romancing the aura-

abundance of fauna and flora.

The lake, in front of my house, flows-

in monsoons, rains ensure that water overflows,

trees shine after an year’s cleaning-

bright and greening.

The lake, in front of my house, flow-

in winter, where does the abundance of water go?

migratory birds return after a break-

to their beloved lake.

  1. It’s difficult for self-inflated homo sapiens to hear the waters without human intervention, but you’ve managed it here, savoring its element in time abundant with life. Well done.
