a year gone by too soon
and yet all that remained
was just a day of you.
it seems eternal, but in
eternity, i shan’t lie-
i didn’t have much of you.
i found a box and arrange memories of you
there are days which are like
dampening mist, where colours
look blank and void. i stand on
the pedestal of time to turn a notch
back, but as hard as i nudge, it’s only
as adamant to move forward. alas! this
is a tale with no beginning, middle or
end, to nudge or to be nudged is a memory of before.
i found a box and arrange memories of you
in a call from time, i wish to be
with you forever, but would i stand
its test myself? i take pages of you
and lace it with care and compassion,
not fearing it would be unbound or
undone. i safely tuck you in.
i found a box and arrange memories of you
Poetry Form :- Bop Poetry at DVerse, hosted by Laura Bloomsbury
Bop Poetry created by Aafa Michael Weaver.
Poetry Style: a 23 line poem which has 3 stanzas ordered thus, with a same one line refrain after each:-
- a six-line stanza – that poses a problem
- an eight-line stanza – that expands upon that problem
- a six-line stanza – that solves, or fails to solve, the problem
Include this same 1 line repeat after each stanza:
‘I found a box and put a room inside’
OR ‘I found a box…[add your own words to complete the line]
Poetry Guidelines: No mandatory rhymes or meter
experiment with enjambment
use minimalistic grammar
The Bop is regarded as a modern day sonnet, without the strictures, since it poses a problem from multiple angles before featuring a poetic turn that introduces a new perspective to the reader at the end.
A box to have all those memories is a great one… and if you could just fit it all in it would be even better.

Your bop poem has made me teary, Kitty. That kind of box is precious. These lines are especially poignant:
‘there are days which are like
dampening mist, where colours
look blank and void…’
and
‘… i take pages of you
and lace it with care and compassion,
not fearing it would be unbound or
undone. i safely tuck you in.’

A box full of treasured memories is so precious, as is your poem. A very emotional bop.

Kitty, such vulnerability shown in your poem. And kindness:
i take pages of you
and lace it with care and compassion,
not fearing it would be unbound or
undone.
