While darkness embodies strength of character,
Emanating hidden virtues to ourselves,
Light embodies luxury,
Emanating sophistication, our image to the world,
It’s only in the darkest hour,
I showcase my individuality,
In brightness,
I become one among the crowd,
It’s only in the darkest hour,
I understand my strength,
Like the vine in my backyard,
Finding its way amidst innumerable obstacles,
In brightness,
I become lackadaisical,
It’s only in the darkest hour,
I learn to live with bare minimum,
In light,
I crave for more,
It’s only in the darkest hour,
I know my true friends,
Until then,
Everyone swarm like flies to a sweet,
It’s only in the darkest hour,
I get clarity over the happenings,
In brightness,
Cheer engulfs any impending danger,
It’s only in the darkest hour,
I put forth my sincere efforts,
Until then,
I just bide my time,
Why I wait until the darkest hour,
To repair the damages?
While I could’ve done,
The same in brightness?
Probably, evolution was built that way,
We realise our vices,
And do away with it,
So that our virtues flourish and transcend,
And light prevails,
Until then, we exist as though nothing could be changed.

Beautifully penned! The darkest hours bring out the real us – whatever it is. I like the idea that we pale into insignificance and get lost in the crowds in light.
