Beware! This ain’t a parody of skepticism,
This ain’t a pain of longing,
Is it an illusion that I’ll be remembered after I’m gone,
Maybe for a day or two or a year in the immediate circle, perhaps?
They aren’t to be blamed for neglecting-
Life rests for none,
Sun rises and sets same as before,
I’m but a bridge to be crossed over,
Is it an illusion that I’ll be remembered after I’m gone,
Time and people move on,
Sometimes long before I’m gone!

Acknowledgements :- Thank you Reena Saxena for hosting Reena’s Exploration Challenge # 259. This is the prompt :-
Here’s a conversation for a prompt.
Person A : How many children do you have?
Person B : Biological, spiritual, emotional or legal?
Think about how your being, your thoughts multiply in the universe. Write about your children and how do they make you happy. Mull over what else can you acquire or create to leave a legacy.
Do you want to be remembered after you’re gone and how?
Thank you Sadje for hosting What do you see challenge #163. The above picture is the prompt. Thank you all for stopping by and reading.
A beautiful merger of both prompts. Thanks Kitty for joining in

Your last line hits hard. I’ve been thinking on these lines as I find that a close friend two-timed me in a legal dispute.

I’m sorry to hear that, Ma’am. Thankfully, that’s not my case, but I find school/ college / work friendships don’t exist once that particular phase is over. That gave birth to the last line.

A beautiful poem. Reminds me, somehow, of the song “The Road Goes Ever On.” With life moving onwards, but with the hope that our impressions in that road will remain for others to remember us.

Great poem…love it! 💕
Friends come, friends go….it’s the way things. I’ve racked up quite a few years now upon this earth and have grown a little wiser (I hope), and know that the river of life moves on, not stopping for no one. I know when I’m gone that my memory will be a transient thing, and I’m okay with that.
