Am I a lone wolf amongst confused souls?
Or,
Am I a black sheep amongst saints?
Am I what Sun is to Earth?
Or,
Am I one amongst the countless stars?
My face lacks identity,
My name has no meaning,
My familiarity doesn’t come from within,
I am just a worker bee,
I am just a misfit piece of a big puzzle,
I am just a common man,
Nothing fancy,
I am just a worker bee,
I am just a misfit piece of a big puzzle,
I am just a common man,
Prone to confusion,
Prone to self-doubt,
Prone to mistakes,
Nothing fancy,
I am just a worker bee,
I am just a misfit piece of a big puzzle,
I am just a common man.

This form lends itself to a lot of honest self reflection. Don’t we all relate to what you have written?

There would be no rulers and no puzzles without the common man. I would treat ‘not finding the right fit’ and ‘misfit’ as two different things 😊
Not being valued by others does not mean there is no inherent value.

May I pitch in to say that like the bees that we desperately need for the jobs they do — like them, we’re all frontline workers for Mother Earth. May we never fall asleep on the job.
Lovely. Powerful. Thanks for sharing.

The common, the worker, the unnamed are by far the most important! The pandemic has pointed that out quite clearly!! Well said in your poem!

It’s interesting to know that ‘not finding the right fit’ and misfit are two different things. And I absolutely agree that not being valued doesn’t mean there isn’t any value. Thank you, Ma’am. 🙂

Misfit is from another’s perspective. Not finding the right fit is your own view

However, your title does justice by calling it a ‘rose’. 🤗

A lot of introspection. The common man is not so common. You can never underestimate their power! Beautifully written, dear

Honest self-reflection here. I suppose all of us at times are all these things. And those worker bees spread pollen to bring new flowers, and bring us honey. 😀

It is easy to feel like ‘just a misfit piece of a big puzzle – but perhaps if we could see the whole puzzle, there would be a place for us all to fit?

There is a truth and an agony here which is reinforced and amplified by the repetition. A very powerful write. Myself I’m trying to lose my identity

Very evocative. And the repetition is definitely poignant.
