No amount of persuasion,
Would awaken a sleepy kid at dawn,
The song of birds,
The colours of dawn,
The lure of school,
Nothing as much as extra minutes of sleep.
Today was no different,
Except, she was in a different place,
On a holiday, and then, tables reverse,
No amount of persuasion would lull her to sleep.
She was promised,
From the balcony of her room,
She would be treated to a wonderful sight,
Never experienced before.
Each passing minute seemed like forever,
To her little self,
As she was about to give up on her wait,
Like the captivating fairy tales she’d read,
From the covers of clouds,
Emerged the peak of the world’s highest mountain,
The mighty Mount Everest,
Covered under layers of snow,
Graced her eyes.
A vision she sure was to treasure,
It wasn’t long before the mighty peak,
Again found shelter under the clouds,
But not before she captured it with her eyes.

These hills are no Everest… but the inner child’s wonder was the same. Lovely, Kitty.
